Writers’ Day
Writers’ Day is our main event for writers, with something for everyone, whatever stage your writing is at.
A mix of visiting and local authors, poets, storytellers and illustrators lead a full day of workshops, panel Q&As, talks, writing surgeries and masterclasses, aimed at both complete novices and seasoned writers.
This day is not to be missed by those looking to learn more about the writing craft, meet and talk to fellow writers, and make invaluable contacts within the industry.
Agent Feedback Session
If you’re a local writer with a manuscript who is looking for feedback and advice from an industry professional, the opportunity for a one-to-one session with a literary agent, which takes place as an adjunct to Writers’ Day, is always popular.
After sending the first chapter of your manuscript, a synopsis and a cover letter in advance of the festival for our visiting agent to read, aspiring writers are then given a 10 minute one-to-one meetings with the agent who will give some advice and discuss possible next steps.
It is fantastic to be able to connect aspiring local authors to an agent, who will certainly give invaluable feedback and might, potentially, offer representation as well (it has happened, on several occasions, over the years!)
