Leave a Legacy

Leaving us a gift in your will is a simple way to support what we do on the Isle of Man.

You can leave a specific sum to be used towards a particular event of the festival, such as Writers’ Day or Schools’ Day, or to go towards the general running costs.

We strongly recommend you discuss your legacy plans with your family first and seek the advice of a solicitor. You can create or update your will with any practicing solicitor.

For an informal and confidential chat about how you can leave a gift in your will to Manx Litfest, please contact us.

Helen Bennett

Long time supporter of Manx Litfest, Helen Bennett, sadly passed away in 2021.

Many, if not all of us, will have met her at various Manx Litfest events over the years - she was usually to be found near the bar, with a glass of wine in one hand and a large bag of signed books in the other.

Her favourite things in life (outside of her family) were books and authors. She loved the writing community on the Isle of Man, and attended as many workshops, writing groups, retreats and signing events as she possibly could.

She was a proud member of the quiz team ‘Team Last Place’ (who occasionally defied expectation and did quite well) as well as a volunteer for the festival, helping out wherever she could.

As part of her legacy, her family donated funds in her memory towards Writers’ Day in 2022.

Although Manx Litfest now feels slightly sadder (and definitely quieter!) without her, she was always proud of the festival and the part she played in its success.

We invite everyone attending events at future festivals to raise a glass of tipple (or mug of coffee; she approved of both) to her memory.
