Schools’ Day

Schools’ Day, which takes place on the Friday of each festival, is the cornerstone of our mission, and one of the main driving forces behind the festival’s creation. A team of authors, poets, illustrators and poets – both local and visiting – visit in the region of 25 primary and secondary schools all over the island for free, delivering readings, workshops, talks and performances, all with one aim in mind:

to inspire a love of reading and writing in children

Each year we hear about pupils around the Island who have increased their reading, or been inspired to write their own stories and poems, after a school visit provided by us, and that really is what Manx Litfest is all about.
