Monique Roffey
Monique Roffey is a Trinidadian-born British writer of fiction and memoir.
Her novel Archipelago won the OCM Bocas Prize for Caribbean Literature in 2013, and in 2020 The Mermaid of Black Conch was named Costa Book of the Year.
Alongside her work as a critically-acclaimed novelist, Monique teaches creative writing for organisations such as The Arvon Foundation and English PEN. She is a Professor of Contemporary Fiction at Manchester Metropolitan University, and a literary activist and advocate for emerging writers in Trinidad.
Monique's visit has been organised by Fiona Gell and is funded by Isle of Man Arts Council.
