Amina Atiq
Announcing our visiting poet for Manx Litfest 2024 - Amina Atiq!
Amina Atiq is an award-winning poet, performance artist and community activist from Liverpool.
Amongst her many achievements, she has been a BBC Words First finalist, a Steve Biko Young Achiever, and a lead writer and facilitator for the National Literacy Trust. Her latest public poetry project is a collaboration with 20 Stories High, and involves working closely with young Muslims across Merseyside.
Amina’s poetry has been described as ‘straight-talking, beautiful and powerful.’ Her love for writing and performing poems stems from a desire to shed light on the issues that matter to her, and to be visible as a young Muslim woman.
During Litfest Amina will be leading workshops, visiting schools, hosting the poetry evening, as well as performing 'The Third House' - a photogenic anthology performance, combining the spoken word with film.
