A very blustery Thursday…
…was brightened up for groups of Year 4, 5 and 6 children at Bunscoill Ghaelgagh, St. John’s School and Manor Park School, when bestselling author Sam Sedgman came to talk to them about Big Ben, the weirdness of time, writing mystery stories and his brand new book, The Clockwork Conspiracy.
Meanwhile in St. Catherine’s Hall, Port Erin, award-winning author and environmental activist Monique Roffey was running a brilliant workshop for adult writers, entitled, Thinking Like a Mountain: Writing for Nature.
In the evening, the brilliant Luke Thompson - academic, publisher and author - entertained an audience at Noa Bakehouse with tales from his new (and wonderfully titled) book, Domadomadoma-Blumblumblum, which explores the history of human attempts to communicate with animals. Luke’s fascinating talk took us from dubious experimentation on Dolphins in the 1960s, to our very own Gef the Mongoose, via St. Francis of Assisi and medieval Cornish dragon slayers!
