As well as winning wide praise (and a fistful of prizes) as an author of young adult novels, Nicola’s ground-breaking study of adolescents, Blame My Brain – The Amazing Teenage Brain Revealed, was published to scientific acclaim in 2005 and short-listed for the prestigious Aventis Prize.
She followed that with Know Your Brain, and her third book on the adolescent brain and mind – The Teenage Guide To Stress – will be published next month (July) by Walker Books. Her latest project is Brain Sticks, an original set of multimedia teaching resources ‘for healthy brains and minds’.
Nicola is also renowned for her straightforward advice to aspiring writers. She has blogged and written a number of books for writers, notably Write to Be Published, a ‘take no prisoners’ guide to breaking into the notoriously tricky publishing industry.
Noted for her public speaking, Nicola is much sought-after by festivals and we’re thrilled that she will be with us in September, when she will be involved with our Writers’ Day on the Saturday, in addition to a talk on The Teenage Guide to Stress, and she will also be involved with a special event we have planned for the Sunday (September 28).
We’ll have more news of Nicola’s events in due course, along with ticket details.
