Josh’s first book was A Dog called Grk, and he’s since written seven more books about Grk and Tim, the boy who finds him, with each book taking them to a different country around the world. His other titles include Bearkeeper, an historical novel set in Shakespeare’s London, about a boy called Pip who rescues a bear from the Bear Gardens, and three books about a complicated family nicknamed the Misfitz.
Garry studied Fine Art at Canterbury and the Illustration Sequential Design MA at University of Brighton under John Vernon Lord and George Hardie. He has worked with several authors, including Professor Stephen Hawking and his daughter, Lucy Hawking, on their series of children’s books. Garry’s illustrations are regularly aired as part of CBeebies’ ‘Bed Time Story’ programme, and his work has appeared in newspapers and magazines in the UK and US, including Vanity Fair, The Guardian, The Times, and Men’s Health. He has also produced illustrations for advertising campaigns, working with clients including Hellman’s Mayonnaise, Spec Savers, Proctor & Gamble, and Harrods.
